What are some great Poker movies to watch?

Over the years we’ve had our share of movies, but some films that might’ve gone under the radar are movies revolving around a poker game. There’s actually a surprising number of them over the years of movie production and they are well worth looking into.

Below are list of movies with a poker game going on that is just as thrilling as the rest of the film!

The Sting

thesting

The first one on the list and it’s quite the old one. Whether you are a fan of Texas Hold’em poker or any kind of poker game styles for that matter, this movie is a must. It’s got two con artists who conned $11,000 ($189,000 today) off of a footman for a crime boss. Set around the Great Depression, it’s a film filled with revenge, intrigue, and of course a high stakes poker game.

Casino Royale

For many of us, this movie is likely the first poker game movie we’ve seen. Being part of the James Bond saga, it makes sense that a lot of people were exposed to it and had a taste of poker films.

This one naturally pulls it off quite well. The poker games that are played in this are fantastic, not to mention all the action scenes are great. It’s James Bond.

Freeze Out

Moving away from not so action packed, to a rather interesting and almost comedy type of movie. Freeze Out is interesting as the movie was actually financed by the poker winnings of the director.

Taking on a friendly poker game atmosphere, it escalates so hard and quickly, the game turns into a sort of monopoly night, where the friends question their friendship. All around it’s a great movie to watch with your Texas Hold’em poker friends or any poker buddies.

Rain Man

As you can see, poker films are quite diverse and this one is no different. This one is quite the touching film that every person should see at least once. The film revolves around poker of course, but on a particular technique in the poker world known as card counting.

For the record, card counting isn’t illegal, however it is very frowned upon and could get you banned from casinos if you are caught counting cards. For the uninitiated, card counting is the practice of counting how many high and low valued cards have been dealt out. You can see this in blackjack more so than Texas Hold’em poker games and such.
The Game

the game

The last one on the list is The Game. It’s a combination of Drama, Thriller, and Mystery. The Game is about an investment banker who starts crumbling away losing his life over his job and the relationships he’s formed. There’s a lot of games in the film paired up with amazing direction, writing, and acting by the the middle part of the film.

The Game is a good film to watch and you may learn a lot more than just poker and gambling.

Why do people play solitaire?

Why do people play solitaire games? Actually there are a variety of reasons that people choose to play solitaire card games over others. Here are a handful of reasons.

A Variety Of Choices

Naturally there are many games out there for which you only need one person to play. The solitaire game evolved over a period of time as more people began to play solo games. Solitaire at the time was simply the name of one playing a solo game. Now there are many types of solitaire card games, but also a variety of other solitaire based games.

More Relaxing

Even though we are social beings, there are times when we simply want to be alone and do something relaxing. For many people the answer to that need is playing some solitaire card games or some other solitaire games. It’s easy to pick up since you don’t need to explain the rules to others, there’s no distractions, arguments, or a requirement of a lot of time to set things up.

Solo Games Work At Your Own Pace

In turn based games, whether it’s cards or board games, you have to consider other players. You have to wait for your turn but also you can’t take up a lot of time either. In solo games like solitaire games, you can go at your own pace.

There is also an instance where when you are playing solitaire card games and you make a mistake and now want to take that move back. We’ve had those before, but in a multiplayer game that’s not going to fly very well if you wanted to take back a move.

Adds Variety To Your Life

Another thing you can think about is that it adds variety in your life. If you spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen, it may be difficult for you to move from a computer screen and watch TV for entertainment. But make sure that whenever you play solitaire card games for a long period of time, take constant breaks to give your eyes some rest.

You Can Learn, better Rules And Strategies

There is also the rare case of people playing solo games, when they’re meant to be multiplayer. This can help in a few instances. For example you can learn new strategies when say playing trading card games like Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering. It’s by doing these kind of things that can help players to learn new strategies and get themselves familiar with every rule of the game.

You Can Play Games that Your Friends Might Not Enjoy

There are some games that only some people can enjoy and others don’t enjoy them at all. In cases like that where people don’t want to play, you can always play those games solo. Playing solitaire can be a great way for you to pass time as well.

Furthermore some of the reasons can very well be justified as well. There are some games that take several hours to complete as a group, but can go quickly if you play them just by yourself.

Skill or luck to win at solitaire?

For as long as solitaire games have been around, some people have been debating over whether it is a game of luck or a game of skill. To determine this once and for all, let’s take a look at how these styles of games are defined finishing with a final decision and reasoning.

Games Of Luck To Win

When looking up free solitaire card games, there are several cases to be made about this game being a game of luck. But first let’s define what game of luck means.

Games of luck (or chance) are ones where typically a person wagers money or something of value and plays against a randomizing device.

Some people may be quick to say that we’re not betting anything in solitaire games. It’s a one player game after all in which you’d be right. However there is still some randomization involved in the game. Meaning you have chances of winning as long as the cards are played out right.

Either way there is still a level of risk and uncertainty. You have no clue whether you’ll start the game in a good position or a bad position and which cards you need to focus on first.

Games Of Skill To Win

With games a skill, this can seem like a more obvious choice for free solitaire card games to fall into. After all with solitaire games you need to formulate a strategy to some degree to arrange all the cards accordingly.

There is also some level of luck involved. As mentioned above you don’t know what cards are underneath nor the cards in the deck fully. As such there is still some luck involved as your options could be limited no matter how skilled you are at the game.

The Verdict

At the end of the day to win at solitaire really takes a mixture of both. Though if it had to be one over the other it would mostly be luck.

In cases of strategy and skill based games you are looking at making the most with what you got. Your ability to stretch your resources stems from the amount of experience with the game you have. As a result there is some level of skill involved in the game.

At the same time, solitaire games, particularly solitaire card game is a game of skill, for the reasons mentioned above. Games of luck and chance stem from having a good deck to work with, a good opening row, and the cards hidden underneath being helpful at the times they are presented.

Because of those particular factors, luck is playing a larger role in this since you will never get quite the same deck, row and hidden cards every single time you play a game of solitaire. As such you need to be relying on your skill to make the best of it, but also hope that luck is on your side to get you through the game.

What do you think of free solitaire card games? Are they a game of skill, luck, or both?

Latest Trends in Online Rummy Games

That being said there have been a few new trends picking up in the rummy card game world, particularly in Indian rummy online. Below are a few of those trends.

21-Card Rummy

One of the largest and energizing advancements of the rummy online world is the introduction of 21-card rummy. In this variation, there are more jokers in the deck, demands common sequences rather than elaborate. The rummy rules are very much the same, but players are attracted to this as this version is relatively new and it’s more jumbled which makes for intriguing games.

Rummy Tiles

Moving away from rummy online there is now a rummy card game done in tiles rather than cards. There are many types of “rummy cards” being used and it’s clear the trend isn’t going to be dying any time soon. Of course the rummy rules are all the same, but it’s interesting to see what sort of variations people can come up with.

More Choices For Making Payments

Obviously this is focusing more on rummy online sites that require you to pay. It used to be straightforward what payments they could accept, but as time went on, these sites have evolved. Firstly they can now accept payments from various sources like credit cards, and more.

The other big step that rummy online has made is the create of a rummy card game tournament. With local sites hosting events, they can award cash prizes to the locals who play. At this point, these tournaments have become the standard for rummy online sites.

Rummy Being Social

Another perspective to consider as well with the rummy card game is that it’s starting to become a more social game. Of course there is the gambling side of it, but it is still very much a card game. It requires some level of social nearness.

Even those who participate in rummy tournaments are actually awarded for participating in tournaments. Since a lot of those sites are local, it prompts people to get out and connect with other people within the area.

But even going back to the standard rummy with physical playing cards it still prompts a social connection. It’s a card game and naturally you feel compelled to talk with the other player, bond with them and such.

A classic rummy game is still something to consider as it’s a fun game for the family to play at with friends or family too.

Rummy Card Game Trends

The rummy rules will stay the same of course, but rummy online will continue to evolve over the time. There can be a lot of potential from the online games the more they progress. But never forget to play a physical game every now and then, with those around you. It can be refreshing.

When is the Best Time to Hit the Online Poker Tables?

Lately it seems as if the world has gone online poker mad, and we can understand why. Playing poker online is one of the best ways to spend your free time. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and it’s very rewarding. It doesn’t matter whether you play poker online for free, or if there is money involved, the game is still incredibly enjoyable, and it is guaranteed to bring out your competitive side. Out of all the countless online poker games, the one variable that can influence how enjoyable your game is, is the timing in which you play. But exactly when is the best time to hit the online poker tables? Well, let’s take a look, shall we? Here’s a look at some of the best times to play poker online.

Early morning – When it comes to online poker games, sometimes all you want is a nice and steady game where you can relax, go at your own pace, without having to deal with too many players at one go. If you’re looking for a quiet game with you and, say, three or four other players perhaps, then early morning is ideal. By this, we don’t mean the early hours of the morning which many would consider the middle of the night, we’re talking 7 – 10 am. Here you will likely encounter the committed late night players from the night before, as well as other people in a similar situation to yourself, who are just looking to enjoy a game of poker with no real pressure. Whether you’re looking to kill some time before work, or just kick your day off right with a win on the online poker tables, early morning sessions can be beneficial, as long as you’re not looking for large groups of players and competitive games.

After work – Typically after work hours range from 5pm – 7pm. Here you’ll get the opportunity to play against people who have typically finished work, got settled, and have decided to pull out their phones, laptops, or tablets, and enjoy a few games of poker as they relax and unwind. Here you’ll encounter a lot of players, though few of them will be considered as grinders. A poker grinder, by the way, is a player that takes part in low risk games of poker. However, some people refer to professional poker players as grinders too. In either case, at this time of day you’ll encounter fewer grinders than later on in the day.

Evening – Evening times are typically between 7pm and 11pm, and it is during these hours that you’ll encounter the most online poker players, and the most competitive of games. You see, at this time of night, pretty much everybody is settled. They’re home from work, they’ve been to the gym, they’ve eaten, washed up, and have settled for the evening to relax. In this frame of mind, people often find themselves enjoying a few games of online poker in the comfort of their own home.

Whenever you feel like it – Finally, when it comes to online poker games, one of the best things about them is the fact that you are guaranteed a game whenever you play. No matter what time you play, there will almost certainly be somebody somewhere else in the world that wants to play. So, whether it’s 1am, 3pm, 7pm, or any other time for that matter, if you feel like a game of online poker, you can play a game of online poker.

Is It Okay to Split Pairs in Blackjack?

If you’re looking for a fun and challenging card game to play, either online or in person, you may wanna go for Blackjack. Blackjack is an extremely popular card game that is enjoyed in casinos all over the globe. If you are fairly new to the world of Blackjack however, you may wanna consider working on your Blackjack strategy. Generally with Blackjack, when you’re dealt a pair, which is of course, two similar cards. The overall bet of your hand doubles, meaning that you have two opportunities to beat the dealer. A common mistake that people make however, is thinking that they should split each pair they receive. This isn’t always the case. If you’re looking to play Blackjack, here’s a look at the unspoken rules for splitting pairs.

Always split aces – If you’re dealt two aces in Blackjack, it is recommended that you always split them. You see, it doesn’t matter which card the dealer happens to be showing, if you receive a pair of aces, you should ALWAYS split them. The reason for this is, that by doing so gives you a stronger chance of building yourself a stronger hand. You see, if both aces were played as a hand, you would have a value of 12. This is because one ace is 11, and the other would be 1. By splitting, this Blackjack strategy gives you 4 ways of potentially getting to 21, as opposed to just the one chance if you stuck with them.

Never split tens – There are of course some situations where you should never split pairs, and this is especially true when it comes to tens. You see, playing both tens gives you a value of 20, by splitting, the only chance of getting to 21 would be if you landed an ace. Everything else will provide lesser, or equal value hands. Some seasoned experts will argue that there are instances where tens should be split, but that’s very technical and we simply don’t have the time to cover that today.

Always split eights – If you’re dealt two eights, virtually all experts will tell you to split them. The reason for this is that playing both eights would make it very tough to play a good hand as you would be at 16. This is a little too far away from 21 for most people’s liking, as mathematically speaking, by splitting, the odds of you landing a stronger hand taking you closer to 21 are improved significantly.

Never split fives – If you’re dealt two fives, you should forget the fact that you have two fives and instead simply treat them as one ten. If you were to split it would provide you with a weaker hand and would be liking splitting on a strong starting hand to begin with. You should double down on anything other than a dealer’s nine, ace, or a ten. In simple terms, there is pretty much no chance of you coming out ahead if you were to split on fives, so don’t do it.  via gamentio https://ift.tt/2rqiFcR
